This cover was heavily inspired by watercolor design and hand done type. The title and author on the cover were painted myself and cleaned up in Adobe Photoshop. I was inspired by one of the first scenes in the book where the protagonist's younger brother suffers from a terrible nose bleed that in turn brings to light the sad news that he has Leukemia. My intention was to take a young adult genre book cover and create a more mature feel so it would appeal to an older crowd as well.
